FFF President Le Graët attempts to put pressure on Canal + for TV deal
Speaking to L’Équipe, FFF President Noël Le Graët attempted to put pressure on Canal + to force them into a new deal for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs don’t have a TV deal for next season, following the collapse of the Mediapro arrangement last year and the end of Canal +’s tide-over arrangement until the end of the season.
“I can understand a little divorce, it can happen. But now, we have to stop. Canal and BeIN are our natural partners and they must put themselves at a normal level. We were at €1.3bn, it was maybe a lot with a partner that offered us major sums (Mediapro). But I remind us all that the English have more than €2bn, the Germans are at €1.3bn and the Spanish and Italians are at €1.2bn. We cannot be at €500m and say thank you to Canal. We cannot post numbers like that.”
