Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial injury: Manchester United pair out for between ‘two and three weeks’, says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United pair Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial will be sidelined with injury for “two or three weeks”, interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed.

Both Lingard and Martial were forced off in the first-half with muscle injuries during the Red Devils’ Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

It means the pair will definitely not feature in United’s FA Cup tie at Chelsea on Monday night – a game you can listen to live on talkSPORT – and they are unlikely to feature in their next match in the Premier League against rivals Liverpool on February 24th – a game you can also listen to live on talkSPORT.

Solskjaer said: “I think they’ll be out for two to three weeks, looking at it now.”

Lingard and Martial’s absence could lead to call-ups to the senior squad for Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes.

“We’ve got still forward options but Angel and Chongy have been training with us all week, so there’s a big chance they’ll be involved,” added Solskjaer.

One youngster who won’t be featuring though is 17-year-old Mason Greenwood.

Solskjaer added: “You’re looking at young players. We’re thinking ‘OK, Mason Greenwood now’s your time to step in’ and he’s injured, unfortunately.

“He’s out for a couple of weeks as well. That’s just the way the luck goes. Mason will get his chance later on.”
