Kenny Omega Wins AAA Mega Championship in Mexico

Kenny Omega defeated Rey Fenix on Saturday night at AAA Heroes Inmortales to become the new AAA Mega Champion.

The self-proclaimed “Best Bout Machine” won the match after delivering a One Winged Angel to cap off a well-received semi-main event match, but also delivered a nasty looking V-Trigger that may have actually done some serious damage to the former champion’s nose.

Omega is scheduled to face Jon Moxley on October 4 at All Elite Wrestling’s Full Gear pay-per-view. No word at this point whether or not the title will appear on AEW television going forward, as the two companies do have a working relationship.

It’s perhaps worth noting that after the Young Bucks wrapped up their program over the AAA World Tag Team titles with the Lucha Bros., they did inform members of the media in a post-show scrum that the titles would no longer be a fixture on their programming so that AEW could focus on building up their own belts.
