The Blues have been given permission to speak to the current Derby County boss about their vacant managerial position.

Lampard is set to rejoin his former club after just a year in charge of the Championship side.

The 41-year-old did not enjoy the best of relationships with Leeds during that campaign.

One of Marcelo Bielsa’s staff members was caught spying on a Derby training session before their league clash.

The two sides then met in the Championship play-off semi-finals with Leeds fans taunting Lampard by singing ‘stop crying Frank Lampard’ as they won the first leg 1-0.

The former Chelsea midfielder got his own back, though, by winning the tie at Elland Road and singing his own version of the chant.

Derby went on to lose the play-off final 2-1 to Aston Villa but it has left Lampard in pole position to take the job at Stamford Bridge.

The Sun report that Leeds want Clarke-Salter on loan next season after he impressed in a spell at Vitesse Arnhem.

But they are now rumoured to not be hopeful of securing his services ‘in revenge’ for the spygate scandal.
