Liverpool team news: Predicted line-up for their pre-season clash against Sporting Lisbon
Liverpool conclude their tour of the United States of America on Thursday morning when they face Sporting Lisbon at the Yankee Stadium, New York.
It’s been a pretty mixed pre-season for the Reds so far – winning their first two matches at Tranmere and Bradford respectively.
However, since they touched down in the States, Jurgen Klopp’s men have suffered two straight defeats.
They were beaten 3-2 by Borussia Dortmund before losing 2-1 to Sevilla.
Their last match was overshadowed by a nasty challenge Sevilla man Joris Gnagnon inflicted on Liverpool youngster Yasser Larouci, hacking the full-back to the ground with a swipe at his leg.
But the Reds will want to put on a decent performance in front of their American supporters before heading back to Merseyside.
- Liverpool’s pre-season fixtures
Klopp should make a number of changes given the quick turnaround from their last match.
This could see a number of Liverpool’s first-team players feature as their first Premier League match of the season against Norwich on August 9 approaches.
Below you can see talkSPORT.com’s predicted Liverpool line-up against Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.
Adrian Durham on Liverpool's squad
Klopp handed a surprise start to goalkeeper Andy Lonergan against Sevilla but Simon Mignolet should be restored between the sticks with Alisson Becker still on holiday.
Nathaniel Clyne is out for six months after suffering a cruciate ligament injury against Dortmund so Trent Alexander-Arnold is very likely to start at right-back.
Virgil van Dijk started against Sevilla but given the quick turnaround Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, who also started against Borussia Dortmund, may start again.
Larouci is unsurprisingly unlikely to feature so Andy Robertson is expected to play in the left-back slot.
In midfield, we could see Fabinho and James Milner return to the starting XI in place of Georginio Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Club captain Jordan Henderson may keep his place despite starting in midfield.
Adam Lallana, who picked up a knock earlier in the tour, may not be risked.
And up front we could see a return of the trio of Harry Wilson, Ryan Kent and Rhian Brewster.
They started together during the wins over Tranmere and Bradford and it would be interesting to see how they’ll cope against stronger opposition.
Brewster has been a star during Liverpool’s pre-season campaign so far, scoring four goals in four appearances.
