Liverpool’s Alisson is BETTER than Brazil rival Ederson, former Manchester United midfielder Kleberson claims

Former Manchester United midfielder Kleberson has said Liverpool star Alisson is a better goalkeeper than Brazil rival Ederson, who plays for Manchester City.

The two Brazilian glovesmen are among the best in the world, and they both ended 2018/19 with silverware as the Reds won the Champions League and City secured a second consecutive Premier League title.

In his first season at the club Alisson was the recipient of the Premier League Golden Glove award, having kept the most clean sheets across the campaign with 21 in total.

Ederson conceded on the final day against Brighton meaning he stayed on 20 clean sheets for the season, having been tied with his Brazil rival before kick-off.

Both shot-stoppers are Brazil internationals, with Alisson favoured as the nations No. 1; he has 35 caps to Ederson’s five.

However, they continue to battle for the starting position and Ederson will hope to claim Alisson’s place for this summer’s Copa America, which kicks-off in Brazil this Saturday.

And Kleberson, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002, before spending two seasons with Man United, believes there is little to separate the two goalkeepers – though he knows which one he prefers.

“It’s a tough one to choose between Alisson and Ederson,” Kleberson told betoclock.com. “Both are coming off a strong season and have had good moments.

“Ederson is a solid keeper but Alisson has risen to the big occasions this season.

“For me, Alisson is just the better goalkeeper but there is not much between them.”

Alisson will cap off an incredible debut season with Liverpool by officially becoming the Reds’ No. 1 from the start of 2019/20.

He’s worn No. 13 since joining from Roma last summer, but it was confirmed earlier this month that Alisson will inherit the No. 1 jersey from Loris Karius for the upcoming campaign.
