Luke Harper Confirms That He Has Asked for His Release From WWE
It looks like another WWE Superstar may be set to leave the company in the very near future. SmackDown competitor Luke Harper has just informed his followers on social media that he recently decided to ask for his release from WWE. The news comes after numerous cryptic tweets and posts from the longtime WWE competitor. Harper had been out of action for a number of months due to an injury, but he was cleared by the company weeks ago. He made his return to the ring during the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35, but he was unable to win the match last week. Since then, he has not made any appearances on Raw or SmackDown, and may be finishing up with the company now.

Harper himself announced on Twitter today that he has asked to be released from WWE. He had positive words for the company and his six-year run in WWE. He said that it was a tough choice for him to leave WWE, but he made the choice because he wants to be able to achieve more in the business. This sounds similar to Tye Dillinger’s situation from earlier this year. Dillinger was also frustrated with his position in the company and told fans that he requested his release so that he could wrestle elsewhere. Harper has not been granted his release from WWE as of yet. There’s no word on whether or not Harper will get his release like Dillinger did, or if WWE will keep him until his contract expires like they are doing with The Revival and Sasha Banks.
Over the past couple of weeks, Harper made it clear online that he had issues with his role in WWE. Prior to his match against Dominik Dijakovic in WWE’s Worlds Collide tournament, Harper outlined some major goals that he had still had left as a 39-year-old competitor. Harper joined WWE back in 2012 and found success as part of The Wyatt Family stable with Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan. He and Rowan were repackaged as The Bludgeon Brothers and became SmackDown Tag Team Champions. Harper also had a run as Intercontinental Champion. Wyatt will be back on TV soon and Rowan currently works alongside Daniel Bryan on SmackDown. However, Harper’s time with the company may soon be coming to an end.
