Manchester City reportedly set to sign 14-year-old Sunderland starlet Morten Spencer for £200,000 compensation fee
Manchester City are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign 14-year-old Sunderland youngster Morten Spencer.
The versatile attacking midfielder – who is strongest on the left wing – is the latest Black Cats academy star to attract top flight attention, with Pep Guardiola’s scouts understood to be on the hunt for more home-grown talent.
According to SunSport, Man City will have to pay a compensation fee of around £200,000 to bring Spencer to the Etihad.
It’s claimed Sunderland will also ensure they are entitled to a portion of future profits made from his successes.
City have introduced several of their academy stars into their first team squad in recent years, including 21-year-old goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw and, most notably, 18-year-old midfielder Phil Foden.
Foden has made an impressive 19 first team appearances in 2018/19 so far, scoring three goals in the process.
