Manchester United boost as Paul Pogba should be fit for Leicester clash despite international break injury

Injured Manchester United star Paul Pogba should be fit for the club’s Premier League match against Leicester next weekend.

An ankle injury saw the midfielder withdraw from international duty for France’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Albania and Andorra.

Pogba suffered the problem during United’s 1-1 draw at Southampton last weekend.

He was replaced in Didier Deschamps’ squad by Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, who is yet to make his senior debut for his country but has impressed at club level.

French media outlet L’Equipe claim Pogba will be fit to face Leicester on September 14, saying his ‘downtime should not stretch beyond eight to ten days’.

It has been a difficult start to the season for the 27-year-old, as well as United, who have won just one of their opening four Premier League games.

Pogba was also subjected to racial abuse after missing a second-half penalty in United’s 1-1 draw with Wolves last month.

The former Juventus ace ended up staying at Old Trafford, despite heavy transfer interest from Real Madrid during the summer.

It is understood Real were unwilling to meet the Red Devils’ £150million valuation of their midfielder.

Meanwhile, United’s £50million summer signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a doubt for the Leicester game due to a back injury.

The right-back received a first call-up to the senior England side, at the expense of Manchester City star Kyle Walker, but returned to Manchester on Tuesday.
