Manchester United confirm signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace in £50million deal
Manchester United have announced the signing of defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.
Wan-Bissaka, 21, joins the Red Devils in a deal worth £50million after a stunning breakthrough season at Selhurst Park.
The England Under-21 international has penned a five-year contract, with the option of a further year, understood to be worth more than £4million a year.
He becomes United’s second signing of the summer after their £15million swoop for Swansea and Wales winger Daniel James earlier this month.
The deal for Wan-Bissaka is thought to include a £45million up-front fee, with an additional £5million based on appearances and achievements.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Man United manager, said: “Aaron is one of the best upcoming defenders in the Premier League. He has the right work ethic, talent and mentality to play for Manchester United and he fits exactly the type of player that we are looking to bring into the squad to help us improve and push on further.
“Aaron is a young, hungry player and eager to learn and that’s important at his age. I am delighted he has signed with us and we look forward to continuing his tremendous development so far.”
Wan-Bissaka added: “It’s an unbelievable feeling and an honour to call myself a Manchester United player and something I know that only a small number of players have the privilege to say.
“I can’t wait to get going and integrated into the squad. I will have a short break now after the European Championships but I’m looking forward to starting training with the manager and my new team-mates on the pre-season tour.”
The right-back, who is yet to make his senior international debut and only made his first appearance for Palace 16 months ago, becomes the seventh-most expensive defender of all-time.
He made 46 club appearances in all competitions for the Eagles, where he won the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.
Wan-Bissaka also collected the PFA Community Champion Award at the end-of-season awards in May, when he committed his immediate future to Palace.
However, he will not want reminding of his recent performance at the European Under-21 Championship with England.
The right-back endured a difficult time in Italy, and manager Aidy Boothroyd overlooked him for the Young Lions’ last two group matches after his late own goal in the opener against France led to a 2-1 loss.
