Manchester United injury latest: Huge boost with Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard to return earlier than expected
Manchester United will be boosted by the premature returns from injury of both Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard, according to reports.
The duo were ruled out for ‘two to three weeks’ after sustaining injuries during last week’s Champions League defeat by PSG, with both players not expected to return until March.
However, the Mirror claim the pair will return earlier than expected – and could even be ready to play when Liverpool visit Old Trafford on Sunday.
Martial suffered a groin problem while Lingard has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, but the report claims the injuries are not as bad as first feared.
If they do return at the end of this week, the pair will have missed just a single match – Monday evening’s FA Cup fifth round clash with Chelsea, which you can listen to LIVE on talkSPORT.
Martial and Lingard will both be able to face Crystal Palace and Southampton in the week following the clash with north west rivals Liverpool, before United travel to Paris for the return leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against PSG.
The Red Devils must overturn a 2-0 deficit away from home if they are to progress into the competition’s quarter-finals.
