Millwall vs Everton disorder: Metropolitan Police release pictures of 12 people who need identifying in connection to brawl

The Metropolitan Police have released pictures of 12 people who they wish to talk to in connection with brawls which took place around the Millwall vs Everton FA Cup clash.

Millwall’s excellent defeat of the Premier League side on January 26 was marred by widespread disorder which occurred before, during and after the match, with one male left with life-changing facial injuries after being slashed across the face.

An arrest was made on February 5 in relation to the incidents, with a Met Police statement confirming a 27-year-old male was hauled in ‘on suspicion of wounding with intent, attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH), and violent disorder.’

And now the force are calling for help in identifying 12 people they wish to speak to in connection with ‘the worst football violence we have witnessed for a very long time’.

“The disorder which broke out on Saturday, 26 January was some of the worst football violence we have witnessed for a very long time,” Detective Sergeant Matt Simpson, from the Met’s Public Order Investigation team, said.

“It left one man with a life-changing injury to his face, and caused chaos in the streets.

“A post-incident investigation was launched, through which we are working hard to identify those involved in this completely unacceptable and shocking behaviour.

“We have today released images of 12 individuals we are attempting to trace in connection with this incident. The public can play a huge role in helping police, especially by assisting us in identifying wanted individuals. You are our eyes and ears.”

DS Simpson continued: “The public have undoubtedly helped us bring many wanted offenders to justice in the past, and we hope they can assist us in this investigation.

“Anyone who recognises the individuals in these images should call police on 020 8246 9386 quoting the image number. Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You can also tweet police via @MetCC.”

The 12 individuals are all males and can be seen at the bottom of this page, courtesy of pictures provided by the Met Police.

The male slashed across the face was later identified as Jay Burns, and he posted a picture on social media showing the extent of his injuries and the stitches required during treatment.

“Absolutely devastated about my face,” Mr Burns wrote. “Nice one to all the Everton lads and everyone who has messaged me and the Liverpool lads who have messaged me, much appreciated.

“I can’t even look at myself In the mirror. Daft c*** award goes to me again.”

The Met Police have asked for assistance in identifying the following 12 people, with the public told to call 02082469386 quoting the image number
