New Arsenal signing Nicolas Pepe once revealed his dream Premier League club are Chelsea
New Arsenal signing Nicolas Pepe once revealed he would join only ONE Premier League side… and it was not the Gunners.
The 24-year-old became Arsenal’s club-record signing in a £72million deal from Lille on Thursday.
Arsenal was not the club he ‘dreamed’ of joining just two years ago, however.
Quotes from a 2017 interview, when he was playing for Angers, surfaced on the eve of Pepe’s transfer revealing which English club he wanted to sign for.
He said: “Chelsea is a club that would be a dream for me.
“It’s the only club in England that I would sign for.”
The forward would soon join Lille in 2017 when he was signed by then head coach Marcelo Bielsa despite interest from several clubs in England.

Pepe went on to score 37 goals in 79 games for the Ligue 1 side and was one of the most sought after players in Europe this summer.
But Arsenal won the race for his signature as Unai Emery continues to build for the upcoming campaign.
