OGC Nice stewards intercepted a tifo of Dimitri Payet wearing a Burger King hat before cup tie

As reported by La Provence, stewards at OGC Nice’s Allianz Riviera intercepted a tifo put together by Nice ultras to display during their cup meeting with Marseille last night featuring OM forward Dimitri Payet wearing a Burger King crown.

The game was the first time Payet and Marseille had returned to the Allianz Riviera since a mass brawl ensued back in August after Payet was struck and floored by a projectile thrown from the stands as he prepared to take a corner during the Ligue 1 game between the teams.

Nice were docked a point in the aftermath and forced to play games behind closed doors as punishment after home supporters poured onto the pitch to confront players after Payet threw a bottle back into the stands.

Despite the intercepting of this banner, others did make it into the ground while many an insult was fired during the game which Nice won 4-1 to progress to the Coupe de France semi-finals.
