On|Off celebrates 10 seasons

This September fashion exhibition On|Off will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Over the last decennia, On|Off has been one of the main supporters of the fashion industry in London and has been instrumental in building London’s fashion economy and international image. Fashion is one of London’s fastest growing industry sectors, representing 22% of all creative businesses and is worth over £14billion to the UK economy. On|Off supports emerging talent and provides new platforms for designers to generate growing sales and publicity. Throughout the 10 seasons On|Off has showcased young designers alongside established names.

Over the last 10 seasons, On|Off supported 185 designers over including Jasper Conran, Sinha Stanic, Emma Cook, Allegra Hicks, Caroline Charles, Gareth Pugh, Karen Walker, Kristian Aadnevik, Ben de Lisi and Red or Dead. The exhibition attracted over 50,000 visitors including international trade, press and buyers and On|Off invested nearly £2million of funding into the sector by providing subsidised showcases for emerging designers. On|Off has been at the forefront of new technologies in order to support and promote its designers from both fashion and the arts by offering video pod casts of all catwalk shows, available to download from iTunes, Youtube and the On|Off website. The fashion platform was the first London Fashion Week event to offer catwalk shows as pod casts to download and these were available in less than an hour after the show. The fair was the first London Fashion Week event to launch its own virtual island in Secondlife.

Fashion Fringe winners AminakaWilmont commented: “It is an extraordinary opportunity to be given. The unique possibility to showcase your work and get an immediate reaction from potential buyers and the public is of indescribable value. It is incredible to find that somebody with deep ties to the London fashion industry is willing to spend time and effort helping to promote us and we are truly grateful for their support.”

On|Off will celebrates its 10th season at the Royal Academy of Arts in September 2008 and will mark the event with a retrospective exhibition in addition to the catwalk shows and designer exhibition. The designer catwalk shows will take place from 15th – 18th September 2008 and the exhibition will run from 16th – 18th September 2008.
