The Scarlets and Cardiff put all the contract uncertainty in Welsh Rugby aside to deliver convincing victories over Edinburgh and Benetton, respectively, in the United Rugby Championship (URC) on Saturday. Scarlets delivered a dominant home victory over Edinburgh, downing the Scottish outfit 42-14, while Cardiff defeated Benetton 30-13. In an entertaining eight-try encounter, Scarlets outscored Edinburgh six tries to two. Ryan Conbeer, Vaea Fifita and Steff Evans all scored for the hosts, Sam Costelow adding the conversions to all three tries but missed one penalty in the first half. 20-year-old midfielder Wendel’s agent Carlos Henrique Brasil has told L’Équipe that his client has reached an agreement to join PSG. All Blacks veteran Aaron Smith believes the inclusion of Joe Schmidt as backs coach for the side was crucial in him rediscovering some of his best form. Schmidt was not part of the original backroom staff under head coach Ian Foster but was drafted in after a series loss to Ireland, and since then the team has been significantly better going forward. Ligue 1 side Montpellier have today announced the signing of left-back Ambroise Oyongo from MLS side Montreal Impact. The 26-year-old left-back and Cameroonian international joins amid rumours that Jérôme Roussillon is due to be sold to AS Monaco.
