‘Win our next 3 games and the first half of the season is forgotten’ — Gordon D’Arcy

THE VETERAN OF Leinster’s back line will typify the mood of the province in the coming weeks. The three-time European champions will be bullish, their self-belief will be unshakable and they will be fiercely defensive about their ability to put another silver lining on the end of a relatively difficult season. Gordon D’Arcy celebrates Leinster’s progress to the European Cup semi-final with Mike McCarthy and Jimmy Gopperth. Source: Colm O’Neill/INPHO The42 brought up the oddly negative mood surrounding the province – not the team, of course, but certainly some supporters – since the Champions Cup quarter-final win over Bath. Gordon D’Arcy’s response is simple: they’re still alive, still fighting for titles. “Our…

Kerry ladies football, UL basketball and now part of Irish rugby’s 7s bid to get to Rio

Source: Twitter IT STARTED WITH tag rugby on summer evenings in Limerick. For Louise Galvin it was viewed then as a pastime rather than the starting point on a journey that brought her to Kazan in Russia last weekend and sees her focused on Malemort in France this weekend. But she’s used to sporting adventures. That’s meant being accustomed to the Kerry ladies battles on the pitch in the summer and to the UL Huskies battles on the court in the winter. Her nine to five was working with cystic fibrosis patients as a physiotherapist at the University Hospital Limerick. But since last month Galvin has been on a career…

This rugby league player didn’t take too kindly to being bitten

IT’S HARD TO tell if there was a deliberate bite, but I think we can safely say there was a deliberate punch. Click Here: Cheap Converse Chuck 70 Shoes Mount Albert player Dion Snell somehow managed to stay on the pitch in this game in New Zealand, after throwing a ferocious haymaker to the face of Papakura’s George Edwards. The reason? He claims Edwards bit his finger. Edwards had carried a ball forward from deep when he was tackled by a couple of Mount Albert players, one of which was Snell. Snell then pushed his hand into the face of Edwards to slow him from getting up, before quickly pulling…

What should Munster fans expect from new signing Mark Chisholm?

IN TRUTH, REPLACING Paul O’Connell is an impossible task. We don’t need to dive into the numerous qualities of the Ireland captain here, but it goes without saying that the 35-year-old’s departure to Toulon will leave huge gaps in various departments in the Munster squad. Chisholm wins the ball in the air as Australia clash with O’Connell’s Ireland in 2006. Source: Billy Stickland/INPHO CEO Garrett Fitzgerald and head coach Anthony Foley have turned to Australian veteran Mark Chisholm to compensate for the loss of O’Connell. The signing looks like a sharp one from the southern province, given that Chisholm’s strengths partly echo those of O’Connell. Indeed, 33-year-old Chisholm was highly…
