Rayan Cherki confirms Lyon contract talks are progressing well
As reported by RMC, Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki has confirmed that talks over a new deal at OL are going in the right direction, after the teenager’s future had been called into question in recent months.
The 18-year-old, considered by some to be the prolific Lyon academy’s most exciting prospect for some time, has just one year left on his deal at OL and had been linked with a move to OGC Nice, amongst others, after the forward was frustrated this season due to a lack of game time under new coach Peter Bosz.

OL fans had feared that the club could lose the teenager in a similar way to fellow academy graduate Amine Gouiri, who left for Nice in 2020 and has since blossomed into one of the league’s most thrilling prospects. However, as Jean-Michel Aulas signalled upon the return of Alexandre Lacazette, talks with the player are positive. Cherki said:
“Discussions are progressing well . The two parties, both from my side and that of the club’s, get on well. I hope to be able to do great things with Olympique Lyonnais.”
