Rusev Posts Cryptic Tweet, Why Roman Has Been Losing on PPVs
One of the biggest stories that has been going around this week is a report that claims Smackdown stars Lana and Rusev asked for their releases from WWE. The reports that began surfacing this week initially stated that Rusev was unhappy with his current position in the company and even got into a major scuffle with the Smackdown creative team. It was even said that the head of creative for Smackdown Brian James had to calm Rusev down. He and his wife reportedly asked to be released from the company not long after this. Further speculation was added when Rusev lost his match at SummerSlam against Randy Orton in just a few seconds.
The story about Rusev losing so quickly at SummerSlam being done to harm Rusev in any way was denied this week, and, more importantly, Rusev and Lana both called the reports that claimed that they asked for their releases false. Despite this, some new sources are standing by their original reports and have chosen not to retract their stories. Yesterday, Rusev also posted a very interesting tweet wherein he thanked WWE’s staff, but he did not go into much detail beyond that. Rusev has been known to troll wrestling fans on Twitter over the years, but this will undoubtedly fuel the rumors of his departure as long as he lets it linger on without any more context.
I want to thank @WWE front office TR and everybody involved. THANK YOU

One of the more interesting facts about Roman Reigns is that, despite being pushed as the top babyface in all of WWE, he has not won a single match on pay-per-view ever since he defeated (and possibly retired) The Undertaker at Wrestlemania in April. The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer responded to a fan wondering why Reigns has lost so much since Wrestlemania on Twitter. Meltzer claims that Roman is losing his matches in order to have more fans like him. By WWE’s logic, fans will grow to like Reigns more if he is not booked as an invincible wrestler, which is one of the reasons why John Cena has received such divisive reactions over the years.
They think it’ll make people like him more. https://t.co/roWNQz9e0V
