Tottenham transfer news: Christian Eriksen running out of options and could end up staying at Spurs
Christian Eriksen ‘could end up staying’ at Tottenham next season due to a complete lack of potential suitors.
The Denmark midfielder, announced in an interview in his homeland that it may be time to try something new after six years in north London.
Real Madrid and Manchester United were reportedly keen on signing him as he has just one year left on his contract.
Real are said to be considering the 27-year-old as an alternate option to Paul Pogba should they fail to get a deal for the United midfielder over the line, while the Red Devils themselves could target Eriksen as a replacement for Pogba if he departs for the Bernabeu.
Clinton Morrison says it comes as no shock that Christian Eriksen wants to leave Tottenham
Daniel Levy reportedly wants a transfer fee of around £130million for the midfielder.
However, this interest in the former Ajax star has not yet resulted in any bids – and he has headed back to Spurs for pre-season to get in shape for the new campaign.
Spurs are unlikely to get such an exorbitant transfer fee for a player who has just one year left on his current deal.
The Guardian report that Eriksen is now running out of options for a summer transfer and may end up staying.
Real Madrid seem the most obvious choice but Zinedine Zidane reportedly has a preference for Paul Pogba.
Juventus have made the free transfer signings of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot while Manchester United’s lack of Champions League football means it would not be an attractive move for Eriksen.
Bayern Munich are busy trying to find replacements for Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery and Barcelona have just spent £108million on Antoine Griezmann.
