WATCH: Ronaldo sinks brilliant free kick in Copa del Rey defeat
The Real Madrid star scored to give his side hope, but it wasn’t enough as Los Blancos slumped to a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Celta Vigo.
Real Madrid may have crashed out of the Copa del Rey, but Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t go down without a fight.
While Celta Vigo ultimately secured its spot in the semifinals with a 2-2 draw Wednesday — clinching a 4-3 aggregate triumph — Ronaldo gave Madrid hope with a 62nd-minute free kick that pulled his side within a goal of equalizing.
With Madrid down 1-0 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate, Ronaldo hammered his dipping, 25-yard set piece inside the far post.
