Wilfried Zaha latest: Roy Hodgson admits he knows little about Crystal Palace star’s situation amid Everton bid
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has revealed he knows little about what is happening regarding the future of Wilfried Zaha amid a £55million bid from Everton.
The Crystal Palace winger stunned Eagles supporters at the end of last season by revealing his desire to leave Selhurst Park and ply his trade for a Champions League side.
Zaha, who has been on African Cup of Nations duty with Ivory Coast is wanted by both Arsenal and Everton, while Chelsea, despite their transfer ban, are lining up a bid, according to The Telegraph.
The Gunners have been chasing Zaha all summer and his preference is to remain in London, while Everton have firmed up their interest by making a £55million offer.
Following Palace’s 5-0 pre-season win over Bristol City, Hodgson spoke about Zaha’s situation to Sky Sports.
“He’s dealing with the chairman at the moment. The chairman’s his link, they get on very well and know each other very well,” Hodgson said.
“Most of what’s going on with Wilfried is going on between him and the chairman and I can’t enlighten you at all.
“I know what you know. I know it through reading on your websites or in newspapers.”
So far this summer, Palace have only added Jordan Ayew to the side, but Hodgson is hopeful of more faces arriving before the start of the season after admitting his squad is ‘very small’.
“I thought we were pretty much all on the same page, that we definitely need players, because our squad is very small. But I’m afraid at the moment we’re still there with the ones that started pre-season training,” he added.
“The only addition is Jordan Ayew, and I knew that he was coming back as soon as the African Cup was over.
“Sporting director Doug Freedman and our chairman Steve Parish, I know they are working hard to find the right people to bring in.
“I’m confident that before the start of the season this squad will look bigger in terms of numbers and stronger in terms of the quality of player we bring in.”
