William Saliba currently has no intention to extend Arsenal contract

Mohamed Toubache-Ter is reporting that Arsenal defender William Saliba (21) has not extended his contract at the London club and currently has no intention of doing so, whilst Marseille continue to keep an eye on the French international.

Saliba has now returned to his parent club for pre-season, keeping true to his promise made in an interview with Téléfoot back in June, where he said, “I belong to Arsenal, and still have two years there. I will be there for pre-season with Arsenal. I have played zero matches for them and I want to show them what I’m made of and have the chance to play for the supporters and for this big club.”

However, for now at least, Saliba does not intend to further extend his current deal at Arsenal, which runs until 2024. Meanwhile, Marseille president Pablo Longoria continues to keep tabs on the player, who he said had “exrtraordinary performances” whilst on loan last season.

Should Marseille make a move to bring the player back, they will do so in the final week of August, according to Toubache-Ter. Any move is dependent on Saliba’s “sporting situation” during the opening weeks of the Premier League season. During his time in Marseille, he earnt his first caps for Les Bleus, and with the World Cup quickly approaching, Saliba is prioritising game time.
